Shoulder bolt also called Hexagon socket head shoulder screw, Its head is hexagonal and cylindrical. There are stainless steel and iron according to the material. There are stainless steel SUS202 hexagon socket head cap screws in stainless steel. There are stainless steel SUS304 hexagon socket head cap screws and stainless steel SUS316 hexagon socket head cap screws. According to the strength grade of hexagon socket head screws,Grade 8.8-12.9 hexagon socket head cap screws are called high strength and high grade hexagon socket bolts

Learning more about the Shoulder bolt:

According to the hardness, carrying force and yield strength of the screw wire, the socket head shoulder screw has a grade classification, that is, the grade of the socket head bolt, and what grade is the socket head bolt. For different products and materials, it is required to have different grades of hexagon socket bolts corresponding to them.

According to the grade strength, hexagon socket bolts can be divided into ordinary and high-strength ones. Ordinary hexagon socket bolts refer to grade 4.8 and high-strength hexagon socket bolts refer to grade 8.8 and above, including grade 10.9 and grade 12.9. Grade 12.9 inner six point bolt is generally referred to the black inner six point cup head screw with knurled and natural color and oil.

The performance grade of hexagon socket bolts for steel structure connection is divided into more than 10 grades, including 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 6.8, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9 and 12.9. Among them, the bolts of grade 8.8 and above are made of low-carbon alloy steel or medium carbon steel and heat treated (quenched and tempered), which are generally called high-strength bolts, and the rest are called ordinary bolts.

The bolt performance grade mark consists of two parts of numbers, which respectively represent the nominal tensile strength value and yield strength ratio of bolt material. For example, for the bolt with performance grade 4.6, its meaning is:

  1. The nominal tensile strength of bolt material reaches 400MPa;
  2. The yield strength ratio of bolt material is 0.6; the nominal yield strength of bolt material reaches 400 × 6 = 240mpa. The performance grade of 10.9 high-strength bolt, after heat treatment, can reach:
  3. The nominal tensile strength of bolt material reaches 1000MPa;
  4. The yield strength ratio of bolt material is 0.9; the nominal yield strength of bolt material reaches 1000 × 9 = 900MPa.

The meaning of performance grade of hexagon socket head cap screws is the international general standard. For bolts with the same performance grade, regardless of the difference of material and place of origin, the performance is the same, and only the performance grade is selected in the design. The classification of hexagon socket head cap screws is basically the same. The market price will definitely be different with different grades. Generally, the price of high-strength socket head bolts is much higher than that of common socket head bolts. In the market, there are generally 4.8, 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 grades.
